Hello world! My name is Emanuele, I was born on 1987 and I’m an electrical engineer at CERN.
Since I was a child I had a strong inclination in disassemble and reassemble everything around me. This inclination quickly turned into the awareness of being an engineer inside. You know that, for a normal person, everything can be associated to two different categories: objects broken and objects not broken. Engineers see the objects in a complete different way: objects that need to be repaired and objects that work well, but can be improved. The obsession of improving what’s working good is a clear symptom of the engineer-ness. In short, since I was eight years old, after having pondered about jobs like the secret agent and the astronaut, I chose my future job: the engineer. While I was growing up, my desire to became an engineer grew with me and my old room is a proof: sometimes my dad says that I’ve turned it into a workshop. I prefer to call it an elegant laboratory.
Along the years I often used the how-to and DIY websites, finding a lot of nice ideas, knowledge and inspiration. I hope to be an inspiration for someone else little inventor, as well as other people have been for me.
Ciao mondo! Mi chiamo Emanuele, sono nato nel 1987 e lavoro al CERN come ingegnere elettrico.Da quando ero piccolo ho sempre avuto una certa propensione a smontare e rimontare tutto ciò che mi capitasse a tiro. Propensione che è rapidamente maturata nella consapevolezza di essere ingegnere inside. Come noto, infatti, per un individuo normale un oggetto può rientrare in una di queste due categorie: oggetti che non funzionano; oggetti che funzionano. Per un ingegnere, invece, gli oggetti possono appartenere ad altre due categorie: oggetti da riparare; oggetti che funzionano, ma possono essere migliorati. L’ossessione di migliorare quanto già funzioni è un sintomo tipico dell’ingegnerite ed io lo manifestai già in tenera età. Per farla breve, dall’età di circa 8 anni, dopo aver passato in rassegna mestieri come il militare, l’astronauta e l’agente segreto, decisi che l’ingegnere sarebbe stata la mia futura professione. Crescendo, per buona grazia di mio padre, il desiderio di costruire qualcosa andava concretizzandosi anche in mutazioni più o meno radicali della mia camera che ormai, come spesso mi fa notare il mio genitore, è più vicina ad un’officina che ad una stanza da letto. Io preferisco vederla come un elegante laboratorio.
Negli anni mi è sempre capitato di appoggiarmi ai vari siti how-to e DIY nel web, trovando spesso degli spunti interessanti. Era già qualche tempo che desideravo creare un blog con i miei tutorial e infine mi sono deciso ad aprirne uno. Spero di essere d’ispirazione per qualche piccolo inventore così come altri lo sono stati per me.
