Today I make a cheap and easy to make system to damp a computer fan. It’s not the best, but it works quite well.
Oggi sto fabbricando un semplice ed economico sistema si smorzamento della vibrazioni per una ventola da pc. Non è il massimo, ma funziona piuttosto bene.
As you probabily don’t know I’m going to transfer in Geneva for one year. I want to bring my computer with me, but my Stacker is far too big and heavy to be transported. So I bought a new case, a CM Elite 370. A very cheap one, but small and easy to move. The default fan was terrible, I changed it with a better one. It was quiter but it didn’t have any kind of dampening system. I made this dampening system starting from four little half-circles of silicone mat:
Come probabilmente non saprete, sto per trasferirmi a Ginevra per un anno. Voglio portare il mio pc con me, ma il mio Stacker è troppo grande e pesante per essere trasportato. Ho quindi comprato un nuovo case, un CM Elite 370. E’ un case economico, ma è piccolo e facile tra spostare. La ventola di default era orribile, e l’ho cambiata con una migliore. Era più silenziosa, ma non aveva un sistema di smorzamento integrato. Ne ho realizzato uno ad hoc partendo da quattro piccoli semicerchi di silicone:
With a plastic screw, the same I’ll use to fix the fan in place, I made an hole and centered it:
Con una vite di plastica, la stessa che terrà la ventola in posizione, ho fatto un buco nel silicone e posizionato:
With some glue I fixed the damping silicone bit to the fan:
Con un poò di colla ho fissato il pezzetto di silicone alla ventola:

Once repeated for the four screw holes, I have gotten a dampened fan:
Una volta ripetuto per tutti i buchi delle viti ho ottenuto una ventola antivibrazioni:
The final touch is an o-ring on the plastic screw, so that the case is between two soft materials, like in a sandwich. Mmm… I’m hungry. That’s all guys, cheers!
Il tocco finale è un o-ring sullo stello della vite di plastica, in modo che la parete metallica del case stia tra due materiali morbidi, tipo panino. Mmm… panino… ho fame. Questo è tutto gente, saluti!
